This footstone was created to replace a marker at the grave of Alice Forbes, in the Pioneer Cemetery at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park in Coloma, California. Historic photos of the original footstone were available in the Park’s archives. Based on these photos, a slab of similar size, shape, and color was cut from Italian marble.

The initials “A. F.” were hand carved into this memorial stone. The size and font were chosen based on historic photographs of the original marker.

An aged and weathered look was given to the stone through the use of etching products and pigments.
